Calling in the troops for Women's Work

4/4/2017

I've called in the troops to participate in my show and they haven't let me down. The subjects of my paintings, of course, are key to my show. But I wanted to include women expressing themselves without my filter and the response has been personal and creative and it is very exciting for me to curate their energy.

I mentioned the selfie component earlier, but there are also the talisman, or mementos of life and work that women have contributed to the show. The instant connection with some has been very gratifying. Dot, an amazing Hospice Nurse came into my life at a difficult time. She barely knew me when I told her about my quest and without skipping a beat she pulled out her pockets a very meaningful collection of objects that she carries with her every day. Each item has a story and they are all treasures.

I am so loving this project.
